A secure space to think freely about what matters to you.
I am a psychoanalytical psychotherapist providing therapy to adult individuals in Oxford.
My name is Leilah Botham and I offer psychotherapy working from my rooms in Central and North Oxford. I also have space for some sessions online.
I offer a confidential, supportive space to talk about any difficulties you might be having with relationships, identity, work or family or perhaps with more general feelings of loss, sadness or worry.
I am currently in the final stages of completing an accredited clinical training with the Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP) and because of this, I can offer reduced-fee psychotherapy at £50-£65 per session. I also have limited spaces available at a lower rate, depending on individual circumstances.
Most people will experience times in their lives when they face particular difficulty, stress or sadness. Sometimes, it can be helpful to speak in confidence with somebody outside of your circle of family or friends so that it’s possible to think about things in an open and non-judgemental way.
Other people come to therapy at a watershed or change in their personal circumstances or to return to significant events from their past. It can be helpful to have some space to think things through before deciding what your next steps might be.
Through exploring our individual lives and experiences, psychotherapy can help us to connect with our own sense of self and to form deeper, more creative and enjoyable connections with others and with the world around us.
Some people come to therapy because they’re grappling with a particular problem or relationship, but others might want to explore more general feelings that might take some time to articulate. I like to work in an open-ended way so that we have the space for what’s important to emerge.
In our sessions, we will think together about the things that really matter to you. We might reflect upon your daily experiences as well as how they relate to your life as a whole. Whatever you need to bring to therapy, we will work together to try to help you find your own solutions to the challenges you face.

People who are neuro-divergent often face particular challenges in a world that is not always structured to accommodate them. Whether you have an official diagnosis or not, I am committed in my practice to support people who feel they have traits of ASD or ADHD as they navigate these challenges. I work within a neurodiversity- affirmative framework which does not pathologise or stigmatise particular neurotypes.
In my practice, I am committed to creating a space that is welcoming and affirmative towards people who are queer, trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming. I do not pathologise sexual preferences or expressions.
Therapy can be helpful to people from all kinds of backgrounds. It should be a place where you can feel free to talk about some of the particular experiences that have arisen in relation to your economic status, race or religious background. I will always work towards listening and understanding what your individual cultural background has meant to you.

If you’re seeking in-person psychotherapy in Oxford, my practice is located at two locations on Banbury Road and South Parade in Central & North Oxford. Both locations are close to frequent bus routes and have bike parking outside. Some free and paid car-parking can be found on nearby side-streets.
Unfortunately, my Banbury Road location is not wheelchair accessible, but for clients with mobility considerations I may be able to accommodate your sessions at South Parade. Please speak to me about this and I’ll do my best to make it work.
I see clients at a frequency of once to three times a week. Sessions last 50 minutes and cost between £50 and £65 per session. I invoice clients by email at the end of each month and request payment by bank transfer.
I also have a limited number of spaces available for those on a reduced income; please feel free to speak to me about your individual circumstances.
If we decide to work together, we’ll arrange a time which we will both commit to for weekly sessions. This will become your regular session time and will not be offered to anyone else.
If you ever need to miss a session, please let me know with as much notice as possible and I’ll try to rearrange it for another time that week. If that’s not possible and it’s outside of my holiday times, I will invoice you for that week’s session.
If you’re thinking about beginning therapy but aren’t yet sure, please feel free to contact me by email, text or phone so that we can set up a time for a free, 15-minute phone consultation. This is an exploratory conversation and there’s no expectation that you’ll commit to therapy at this point.
Following this, I would usually offer to arrange a full, 50-minute consultation. In this meeting we can start to think more about whether psychotherapy might be useful to you and whether we might be a good fit. If we decide that I’m not the right therapist for you then I might be able to recommend another practitioner.
I see clients at my private practice in Oxford as well as having some availability for online therapy. I have experience of working with a range of issues.
I’m in my fifth year of a UKCP accredited training with the Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP) with UKCP trainee registration (Membership number: 2011190762) and full insurance.
I work under the supervision of senior psychoanalysts and am committed to ongoing professional development. I adhere to both the AGIP Code of Ethics and the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
